Office Lighting
Is the lighting inadequate for you're work space needs, when choosing the lighting for your home office, assess your needs first by sitting in your proposed work space and determining how much illumination you need to work efficiently and where the light should be placed. An office with inadequate lighting in not only useless but can lead to all kinds of health problems from headaches through neck and shoulder pain. Chances are extremely high that the existing lighting in the proposed location of your home office is inadequate for your work space needs. Few residences have rows of fluorescent lights installed, for example,as commercial office spaces do. While you don't have to go that far,you do need to incorporate strong overhead lighting in your home office design - and in many cases, that means purchasing and installing new or additional light fixtures.Various types are now available and relatively easy to install. To satisfy the differing requirements of level and intensity of illumination, use in proximity to computer screens and economy, three types of bulb are available.
Fluorescent lamps reduce loss of heat energy and operate on low wattage, thus saving energy and cutting running costs. Compared with a filament lamp of similar output, energy consumption is reduced by between 70% and 80%, and life expectancy is increased by over 600% (8000 hours).
Assymetric lighting is provided by the use of a diffuser with variable light output. Where two tubes are used switching selects one or both.
Halogen lamps are fitted with three position switches to provide dual intensity.
Filament lamps provide good intensity and light distribution.
